Digital literacy workshops for seniors and families

Beginner-friendly sessions on scam prevention, online privacy, AI, and everyday device skills. Free and open to everyone.

What to expect

Our digital literacy workshops are small, informal, and led by a facilitator with helpers in the room. We use real examples, not textbooks. Most sessions are demos and group discussions, with some time to try things on your own device if you bring one. Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes.

Devices aren't required, and beginners are always welcome. Some of our participants prefer to watch and learn, and that's completely fine. We explain terms clearly and make space for questions throughout the session.

We hold sessions at community spaces in Thorncliffe Park and Don Mills. Workshops are hosted by our partner organizations, so register through them to save your spot. If your group is looking for online privacy workshops or digital safety workshops in Toronto, contact us to talk about a session.

Topics we cover

Digital safety and scam prevention

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says: Recognize, Reject, and Report. We walk through fake CRA calls, phishing texts and emails, rental scams, and fake tech support alerts. We show you real examples side by side with the red flags to look for so you can recognize a scam, reject it, and know how to report it.

Everyday digital literacy basics

For anyone who wants to get more comfortable with their device. We cover essential skills like setting up accounts, creating strong passwords, using email, and navigating government websites like CRA My Account and Service Canada.

AI literacy and deepfakes

AI is changing how information looks and sounds online. In this session, we explain what AI-generated images, videos, and voice messages are, how they're made, and how to tell if something is real. No technical background needed.

Online privacy and account security

Our online privacy workshops cover password habits, privacy settings, app permissions, suspicious links, and the steps to take if an account has been compromised.

Protecting kids online

For parents and caregivers who want to help their families stay safe online. We cover privacy settings, screen time, age-appropriate apps, and how to talk to kids about what they see and share online.

Questions people ask before booking a workshop

What happens at a workshop?

We teach through guided examples, plain-language explanations, and plenty of time for questions. Participants can follow along without prior experience, and bringing a device is optional.

Do you cover AI and deepfakes?

Yes. Our AI literacy workshops are designed for beginners and focus on practical questions like how AI works, what deepfakes are, and how to judge whether a message, image, or video is trustworthy.

Is online privacy included?

Yes. Online privacy is built into our workshop lineup. We cover privacy settings, safer accounts, password habits, and how to share less personal information online.
